How to File a Complaint
A complaint may be submitted to the TCIHRC by any individual in the Turks and Caicos Islands, regardless of their legal status. If you believe your human rights have been violated, we are here to help you. Follow the steps below to file a complaint with us.
HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT
- Prepare Your Information
Gather all relevant information and documents related to your complaint, such as:
- Your personal details (name, address, contact information)
- Details of the incident (date, time, location)
- Names and contact information of any witnesses (if necessary)
- Any supporting documents (emails, letters, photos, videos, etc.)
- Complete the Complaint Form
For your easy access, we have provided several ways for obtaining a complaint form. These include:
- Here on our website: humanrightscommission.tc
- At the TCIHRC office located at Cabot House, Suite C-104, Leeward Highway Providenciales, TCI or
- By requesting a copy via email at tcihumanrightscomission@hrc.tc
- Online: Upload the form and documents via our complaint form.
- Email: Send the form and documents to tcihumanrightscomission@hrc.tc.
- In Person: Visit our office at Cabot House, Suite C-104, Leeward Highway Providenciales, TCI
- Submit your complaint
There are three options for submitting your complaint and you are free to use whichever is most convenient for you:
- Online: Upload the form and documents via our online portal.
- Email: Send the form and documents to tcihumanrightscomission@hrc.tc.
- In Person: Visit our office at Cabot House, Suite C-104, Leeward Highway Providenciales, TCI
- Investigation Process
Once we receive your complaint, we will:
- Send you an acknowledgment of receipt confirming that we have received your complaint
- Assign a case number for your reference, and an appointment will be set
Our team will then review your complaint and may:
- Conduct a preliminary interview
- Contact you for additional information or clarification
- Interview witnesses (if necessary) and gather further evidence
- Keep you informed about the progress of the investigation
- Resolution and Follow-Up
After we have completed the investigation, a formal letter will be written to notify you of any actions taken and the outcome. If for any reason you feel that the resolution is not satisfactory, you may have the option to appeal the decision.
